How many tablespoons of coffee per cup?
For every 8 ounces (1 U.S. cup) of water use 2 tablespoons ground coffee
Coffee Pot:
Be advised that coffee pots consider a cup to be 5 ounces. So, in a 12 cup coffee maker there is actually only 7.5 cups of water inside. So using our formula(7.5 x 2) that would require 15 tablespoons of ground coffee.
So for a 4 cup coffee maker there is 20 oz. of water. So, 20 divided by 8 (8 oz. standard cup) equals 2.5 (2.5 US cups). Now 2.5 x 2 (2 tablespoons ground coffee per US cup) equals 5 tablespoons ground coffee for a 4 cup coffee maker.
Formula; Keep It Simple
Number of coffee maker cups x 5oz. divided by 8 = number of US Cups x 2 (2 tablespoons ground coffee) = tablespoons of coffee required.
Just a heads up
1 scoop (from a big coffee jar) is equals to 2 tablespoons.
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
